Markus Michael Patrick Feehily (born 28 May 1980 in Sligo, Ireland), better known by his stage name Mark Feehily, is the lead singer (with Shane Filan) of the Irish pop band Westlife. Feehily is one of the five original members of Westlife, along with current members Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Nicky Byrne, and former member Brian McFadden.
Before Westlife Mark, Egan and Filan were in a band called IOYOU (or I.O.U.) where he contributed to songs such as “Everlasting Love” and “Together Girl Forever”.
Feehily told The Boston Globe about his embarrassment over Westlife’s Rat Pack album Allow Us to Be Frank and blamed their record company for forcing them to record it after Robbie Williams had already found success with the genre, saying “it was a really weird time in our career”. Feehily has sung full solos for the band on a couple of occasions: a song the band wrote called “Imaginary Diva” from World of Our Own and the off-key “Talk Me Down” from Where We Are. He also sang full solos on “Silent Night” at a concert.
Feehily co-wrote several Westlife songs, all 15 tracks on his debut solo album, and many unreleased songs.
He announced on social media that he and Shane Filan co-wrote a new single for Emeli SandΓ© and Ronan Keating called “One of a Kind”, released in 2020
As one of the main vocalists of Westlife, with handsome looks, captivating blue eyes and a bright smile, Mark Feehily was once the face that attracted fans in the group. After Westlife disbanded, Mark went solo but was not very successful.
In 2015, the public was surprised to discover Mark selling coffee and cakes on a mobile cart in London, England. At that time, the male singer shared that despite his poor financial situation, he did not give up singing. Later, Mark Feehily continued to release several albums and actively participate in tours.
Among the members of Westlife, Mark Feehily is the one whose personal life attracts the most attention. He openly dated male singer Kevin McDaid, a member of the band V. Before that, Mark had to keep it a secret at the request of his manager. Unfortunately, Mark and Kevin were only together for 7 years before breaking up.
In 2013, Mark Feehily found new happiness with Cailean O’Neill. In February 2019, the couple decided to get engaged after many years together.
In July of the same year, Mark and Cailean announced the birth of their first daughter through surrogacy. Currently, Layla is 4 years old and her father often posts pictures on his personal page. She receives many compliments for her lovely, angelic appearance.
