Michael Jordan appears to have purchased a $65 million Gulfstream G650ER, the same type of plane owned by billionaire tycoons like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.

According to a TikTok video posted Monday, the flashy new metal plane with the Jumpman logo was on the tarmac at Palm Beach International Airport. The plane’s registration number, N236MJ, includes the basketball legend’s initials.

Federal Aviation Administration data shows the G650ER was registered on Oct. 1 to MJ Air LLC, which is under the care of Jump Management, Jordan’s family office.

The G650ER is one of the world’s longest-range and fastest purpose-built business jets.

Launched in 2014, the Gulfstream G650ER is one of the largest and fastest commercial jets in the world, attracting multi-million dollar customers.

The flagship ultra-long-haul aircraft is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, powering its incredible range of 7,500 nautical miles and speed of Mach 0.925.

The range is 500 nautical miles greater than the aircraft’s predecessor, the Gulfstream G650.

Range and speed helped Gulfstream break a world record for the fastest “around the world” flight in 2019.

The plane, owned by Qatar Airways Executive, flew from pole to pole in less than 47 hours.

That same year, the G650ER made another record-breaking flight when it flew between Singapore and Tucson, Arizona, covering 8,379 nautical miles (9,600 mi) non-stop. These achievements are just two of the aircraft’s more than 120 world speed records.

Celebrities like Musk and Bezos, Bill Gates and now Jordan have demonstrated the jet’s capabilities.

Jack Sweeney, a 19-year-old student at the University of Central Florida, popularized Musk’s G650ER in 2022 when he posted the plane’s whereabouts on Twitter, now X.

Gulfstream’s G650ER is one of the world’s best-selling commercial jets.

It had a waiting list of several years at the time of its initial release.

Business Insider visited the plane at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2022 to see how the rich travel – take a look inside.

The G650ER has a plush and luxurious interior that features four living spaces and can be completely customized by the owner.

The cabin, which can carry up to 18 passengers and accommodate up to seven, is designed to be the quietest in commercial aviation, ensuring travelers a peaceful journey.

The 47-foot cabin includes meeting rooms and a dining room.

The dining area is created by a fold-out table between the sun loungers.

The giant G650ER even has a sleeper.

When not a bedroom, the space also functions as a conference room with a couch instead of a bed.

There were also two toilets on board.

There was one at the front, closer to the kitchen and cabin, and another at the back, behind the bedroom.

In the cockpit there is an advanced fly-by-wire system.

It is designed to improve the human interface and help pilots better track and understand their surroundings in low visibility conditions.

Additionally, the aircraft is equipped with Gulfstream’s Predictive Landing Performance System, which helps pilots stay on the runway, improving overall safety.

There is also a rest area for the pilots in the front of the plane.

This is crucial for the ultra-long-distance flights the aircraft is capable of.

Behind the small bathroom is a kitchen.

It comes equipped with glassware, a sink, granite countertops, and plenty of storage space, though the layout and materials can be customized. There was also a coffee maker, an oven, and a removable cutting board on the counter.

In the main cabin there are four pairs of larger leather armchairs.

Each features a leg rest and deep recline, swivel capabilities, an adjustable headrest, and noise-cancelling headphones.

The seats face each other, allowing passengers to have business meetings during the flight.

They can also be combined to create single beds. In addition, there are tables built into the side of the fuselage that fold out between each group of seats at the touch of a button.

Also in the dining room there is a large television and a counter.

A wine cooler appears from the front.

Along the fuselage are 16 of Gulfstream’s signature giant windows.

These are the largest in the industry and offer passengers excellent panoramic views.

Additionally, they have curtains on the windows so that passengers can take a nap more easily during daytime flights.

Walking around the cabin, I found the plane to be extremely spacious.

The seats had plenty of legroom.

After touring the plane, I understand why wealthy customers prefer the plane with lots of amenities.

Its speed, range and size make it suitable for long-haul flights, and it would be easy to while away the time with the comfortable sleeping area, meeting space and large TV.
