In a recent interview, singer Jennifer Lopez (52 years old) admitted that she and her boyfriend – actor Ben Affleck (49 years old) felt a little scared when rekindling their relationship. They were both hesitant, not knowing how the public would react.
The couple got back together in 2021 after both being single at the same time, when considering publicly reuniting, they both remembered the tiresome stalking and scrutiny they had to endure when they were still together in the early 2000s.
“Before, we let our relationship happen in front of everyone’s observation. We were too naive, so it affected the relationship a lot,” Lopez admitted.
When they got back together, Lopez and Affleck both took a bit of a risk, knowing that they were both older and wiser than they had been before, and that they would be able to handle any backlash: “We’re both very happy and don’t want to make the same mistakes that happened before. We’re both much older, much wiser, more experienced, we’re at a different stage in our lives, we both have kids, and we’re both more conscious now , protecting what’s important in our lives.”
Commenting on the current relationship between the two, Lopez said that there have been many changes compared to before when they were together when they were young: “It’s great because everything now feels very different than before. We appreciate and enjoy more, everything is better and more pleasant.
When you find someone you really love, then lose them, and then have a second chance with them, it’s very rare, precious and beautiful, and we both appreciate this opportunity.” Both Lopez and Affleck feel very happy when the public welcomes them after announcing their reunion.
Lopez and Affleck have officially been back together since April 2021. Previously, the couple was together from 2002 to 2004, they were engaged and planned to get married but then stopped everything and decided to go their separate ways because they could not bear the pressure of a relationship that was being scrutinized and gossiped about too much.
Ben Affleck “hesitates”
Before Lopez shared his thoughts, Affleck also shared in another interview that he was somewhat hesitant to rekindle his relationship with Lopez, because he did not know how his children would react to the sudden increase in information and attention for their father and other related relatives, after the news of the reunion was officially confirmed.
“My responsibility to my children is the highest responsibility. I do not want anything negative to happen to them if I can prevent it from happening in the first place,” Affleck shared.
In his marriage to his ex-wife – actress Jennifer Garner (49 years old), Affleck has 3 children, including Violet (16 years old), Seraphina (12 years old) and Samuel (9 years old).
Affleck knows that his children have to endure the tiring pressure of having parents who are public figures: “I know very well that my life has affected them a lot”.
After all the fear and hesitation, the “Bennifer” couple is now showing a passionate attachment despite both being in their “fifties”. For her part, Lopez said she feels “lucky and very proud” to have a second chance with Ben Affleck.

Lopez also revealed that Affleck has been persistently abstaining from alcohol for a period of time. He’s working hard to find a balance in his life, and Lopez knows that Affleck is trying to be the best man he can be: “To see the man he is now, to see the father and companion that he is now, I know he’s worked hard. I also know that he’s an ideal man and will always work hard to achieve that.”
